THINKING ON WHAT TO WRITE IT ON

by Raymundo Mena

It was Wednesday in the afternoon, I had just walked in to school which felt good to do since it was cool compared to outside where it was real sunny and warm. I walked directly to the stairs so I could get to class. When I got there, I was feeling nervous because I knew that we had to turn in the second draft of the essay that we were supposed to have started last Thursday, the first day of summer school.  But I still hadn’t even begun writing it because I had no idea what to write about.  So I began thinking and thinking, trying to come up with some ideas about what I should write it on.

Time passed and I still had no idea what to write my essay on. After a while, I decided to stop thinking and start writing anything in the hopes of coming up with something.  So, I took out my blue pen and started writing just about anything that I thought had some sort of relation with the essay I had to do. Minutes went by and I got even more nervous my heart started beating faster and I started rubbing the top of my head even more trying to concentrate, since now all I had on my paper were a bunch of scribbles and no beginning to an essay.

I got tired of scribbling and decided to rest for a moment. I felt like giving up, but I knew that the essay was worth a lot of points, which I really needed to pass the class and graduate.
While resting, I tried thinking again to see if I could come up with some ideas.  Nothing came to mind, so I gave up and just started drawing on my paper.  But even then, I couldn’t concentrate. It was break time, finally, but I was so sleepy and tired from all that thinking that I was barely able to keep my eyes open, I just kept flinching.

The first thing I did during break was go straight to the washroom to wash my face with water to be less sleepy. After that I went to the lunchroom and sat.  Once again I tried thinking of some of ideas so I could start my writing my paper, but I couldn’t concentrate; there were a lot of people talking and it was really loud.

Break was over and I was back in the classroom feeling more nervous, but also with out hope. Minutes passed by once more, class was almost over. So I thought for a moment and said to myself, I should write about how I am feeling right now since its almost kind of on what the teacher wants us to write the essay on.

I began writing it and, after a few minutes, I was finally done with my first draft. I turned it in. All I had to do now was wait for my teacher, Ms .Lara, to check it to see if it was acceptable or not.  So, I still felt a little nervous, but also relief since finally I had turned in my essay.
